Carroll County is bordered on the West by the "Mighty Mississippi River" and the east by prime farmland.

The county is conveniently located only two hours from Chicago, and one hour from Dubuque, Rockford and historic Galena located in our neighboring Jo Daviess County.

Thomson, IL offers some of the finest camping and fishing along the Mississippi River as well as great deer, duck and turkey hunting. Thomson is also the site of the Illinois Dept. of Corrections newest maximum security prison.

Lanark, IL is known as one of the most beautiful communities in the region. It has a historic business district as well as many wonderful old and new homes. 

Shannon, IL is a quaint town of about 900 people that can offer you rich living without the price tag! There are well maintained parks, a great school and numerous community events that are fun for everyone!

Mt. Carroll, IL is the county seat of Carroll County.  They have a wonderful historic district of homes and businesses, as well as a friendly downtown shopping area. Mt. Carroll offers many services of a big city with true small town flavor.

Savanna, IL represents a thriving community of over 3500 people. The area is known as a "sportsman's paradise" with numerous outdoor activities, as well as a quaint downtown shopping district.

Milledgeville, IL is a warm and neighborly community with a progressive spirit; a truly fine area to live, work and raise a family.  Near many major cities, it is also distant enough to enjoy the relaxed and peaceful nature of the area.

Chadwick, Illinois is the youngest community in the county.  A lovely village of 475 people and located just 130 miles from Chicago. Stroll down Main Street and see the well kept businesses that reflect the energy and enthusiasm of the residents and business owners.
